Making a website is one thing, but creating and adding a sense of legitimacy can be a difficult task! The problem is its a concept that seems so abstract and impossible to achieve. But don't worry! Building legitimacy on your site is something anyone can achieve with the right strategy!

1. Create Original Content

Creating original content is perhaps the easiest and fastest way to build legitimacy! Too many people try to create cookie-cutter content that's essentially a copy and pasted version of content that someone's seen a million times over. Having original words, pictures, designs, or ideas on your site is a fast lane approach to letting your customers, clients, and viewers know that you're present and real.

2. Client Testimonials

Another great (and super fast) way to build legitimacy for your website, and also your business as a whole, is to ask your previous clients and customers for reviews and testimonials! The easiest way that I've found to do this is to simply reach out via email! You'd be surprised how willing a satisfied customer will be to respond.

Not only do client testimonials help build legitimacy, but customers also love to feel like they're being heard and listened to, so asking for testimonials has the potential to create repeat business!

3. Start a Blog

Starting a blog and putting your original thoughts out there lets people know that 1. you're real and 2. you might actually have an idea of what you're talking about. And when you're trying to start, run, or maintain a business that amount of trust is a good thing.

One note about starting a blog - don't be lazy! You don't have to write a book, just make some small and simple posts to get started. If you find yourself totally unable to write a post, consider delegating it.

4. Include Your Store's Physical Address

This one's simple and to the point. If your business has a physical address (that you want people to visit) include it on your website! Consider adding a map that displays your address close to your contact page!

5. Be Transparent and Honest About Your Intentions!

As a rule of thumb, people can tell when they're being fooled. And if they can't, they'll let others know. (This is hopefully obvious) But honesty is the best policy. Its the right thing to do and it encourages a healthy client-business relationship that translates well into reviews, testimonials, and word-of-mouth.

(BONUS) Include your social media pages somewhere on your website!
